Sinister

Once you see him, nothing can save you.

While wildly anticipating this film, I was excited to hear from others good things. Friends found it wasn't your typical B - rated film. My most favored trait, it wasn't a repeat. While most scary movies are copies of copies... ect. Sinister was in fact the perfect title for such a grizzly film. From the very beginning you are brought to into a dark, dark place - and carried on from there.

I liked the actors, and the characters. Not completely ignorant, and driven by vices and a little bit of common sense. Ethan Hawke played a one hit wonder writer, a loving father, and husband. With his odd job of true-crime writing about grizzly murders that plague towns, he tries to help victims by finding them justice within his story. Now I won't say it's not predictable, I find that most scary movies are rarely surprising.

Scott Derrickson carried on his haunting tactics from the 'Exorcism of Emily Rose,' and kept it going with eerie music that could fill anyone with suspense. With a low budget, he pulled off a great film.

Year: 2012
Rating: R
Actors: Ethan Hawke
My R: Worth a watch if you like horror, matinee or rental.
