American Psycho 2

 A Girl's Gotta Do What A Girl's Gotta Do

Now, I can't just ignore a sequel. In this film the dismissal of Patrick Bateman is swift and replaced by none other than Mila Kunis (Rachel). Her character at first is intriguing and puzzling. But before we question who the killer really is, we are lead on a false path.

But the real highlights of the movie were the psychological issues. Not only will Rachel stop at nothing to achieve her goals, she is also the most closely guided killer of her time. Ted Bundy was listed as a precise killer, but where he got sloppy at the end, leaving fragments, hurt by a downward spiral. When in fact the perfect killer was someone who planned her downward spiral as part of her initial plan, literally expecting the worst and being ready for it.

Rachel really was an All American Girl, difficult college life, the hunt for her dream job - all while sick in the head. But of course, she couldn't leave everyone out of her plan, in the end... she left with just one tiny little flaunt.

Now, I wouldn't say this film defeats, nor even follows the first film well. While Rachel was a much more interesting psychopath, I found the film ran dry after a while, only wetted by the occasional spatter of blood.

Year: 2002
Rating: R
Actors: Mila Kunis, William Shatner
My R: Netflix/Download - but only if you loved the first film.
