Prometheus

As seen on IMDB:  The original Prometheus was a character from Greek mythology. He was a Titan (an immortal older god), who gave the gift of fire to human beings. Prometheus was punished for this by being bound to a rock in Hades, where each day an eagle, the emblem of Zeus, was sent to feed on his liver, only to have it grow back to be eaten again the next day. In some stories, Prometheus is freed at last by the hero Heracles (Hercules). Prometheus also tricked the gods, which is of relevance to this film.

The prequel to the Alien saga, able to stand alone as it depicts the strange happenings upon a crew aboard the Prometheus ship. Thought to be invited there by our creators, our makers - they journeyed deep into space to meet them like eager little children.

Noomi Rapace had impressed me greatly with this film, as well as her portrayal of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Her, Idris Elba, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, and Guy Pierce all played great characters. Ridley Scott knew what he was doing, and what story he was telling - but still leaving us with questions.

But very exciting to see the birth of the menacing alien we have come to fear.

Rating: R
