End Of Watch

Every moment of your life they stand watch.

How do I even begin to review this movie. There are a lot of aspects I feel I should cover, but I am also coming from a biased perspective. So be prepared.

I feel this film was wildly accurate of the conflicts and job of a day-to-day police officer. The streets of L.A. are no easy task, in fact, they are far from easy, and if I may say, the men and women that guard those streets are saviors. There is a large injection of narcotics, illegal trafficking, and a constant flood of calls for the police. All these men choose to risk their lives on a day to day basis on the hopes that somehow they are improving the lives of others. I think this film did a tremendous job of portraying the type of people and situation that they have to deal with.

I found that Jake Gyllanhaal, and Michael Pena did an incredible job of playing two partners that rely on each other for everything from the protection of their lives, to the protection of one another families. And from experience I know that a station full of all sorts of cops can be tightly wound, to the point of the unspoken word that they look out for one another. Despite differences.

It also accurately depicts the problem of the cartels in today's world. Drugs are a large problem, and the men that control them are incredibly dangerous. This movie showed how difficult being a cop can really be, when faced with the biggest problem of today. Officers Taylor and Zavala do their job, and do it well, but that doesn't exactly mean good things will happen to them. That's why these men are saviors, doing their job well, can mean signing up for the worst.

I appreciate my men in blue. I know the importance of a sheep dog, it's to keep me safe from the wolf.

Actors: Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña, Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera.
My R: Worth seeing anywhere

"I am the police, I'm here to arrest you, you've broken the law. I did not write the law, I may disagree with the law but I will enforce it. No matter how you plead, condole, beg or attempt to stir my sympathy. Nothing you do will stop me from placing you in a steel cage with gray bars. If you run away I will chase you, if you fight me I will fight back. If you shoot at me I will shoot back. By law I am unable to walk away. I am a consequence, I am the unpaid bill. I am fate with a badge and a gun. Behind my badge is a heart like yours. I bleed, I think, I love, and yes I can be killed. And although I am but one man, I have thousands of brothers and sisters who are the same as me. They will lay down their lives for me and I them. We stand watch together. The thin-blue-line, protecting the prey from the predators, the good from the bad. We are the police."
