Something is missing.
Tracy is a 15-year old girl, slightly insane, looking for her lost brother. Now, unlike some movies, it's not played from beginning to end, it also however, does not start at the end and move backwards. I seemed to find a lot of jumping from one fragment to another, while we try to piece things together one by one, and the entire time wonder, what's missing, or is she crazy?
Ellen Page, fantastic actor, director and screen play? Not so much. I found it irritating having not just one, two, or three moving images to watch, but sometimes an upwards of 8-10 different shots of different happenings. Very -fragment- like, but nauseating to watch, and also confusing. Not my favorite idea of a creative screenshot.
In all honesty, I found myself skipping a lot of the movie. Many scenes didn't even contain dialogue, just a lot of walking around aimlessly, shoddy music, and... you guessed it, more fragments.
She learned that what you want isn't everything. Things can plague our mind - like an infatuation with a boy. One that can cloud our mind so much, that we lose our judgement. And lose something important and dear to us.
Rating: R
Year: 2007
Actors: Ellen Page
My R: If you must see, netflix or download. I wouldn't recommend to anyone who doesn't enjoy scene cuts, or strage film technique.
Have you seen Memento? I love the backwards narrative!
ReplyDeleteYep, Momento was great. My first Guy Pierce film.
